Cybersecurity Threats to be Aware of in 2023

As we enter 2023, it is important to be aware of the top cybersecurity threats organizations face. Chief Information Officers (CIO’s) have declared cybersecurity as a top concern for 2023 and with protections needed on many fronts, it’s hard to argue with their logic.

Top cybersecurity threats projected for 2023:

Phishing

Phishing emails have become more prevalent and unfortunately cyber criminals have gotten better at making scam emails look legitimate. Employee training in this area is crucial in order for everyone to be educated and aware of these potential threats.

Employee Error

Whether it is unintentionally opening a scam email or not implementing multi-factor authentication, one of the primary reasons for cybercrime is human error. Again, to help prevent cybercrimes from human error, effective trainings for all employees is necessary.

Malware

Viruses and malicious software are another cyber risk to be aware of. Antivirus software’s and firewalls can be put in place to monitor and prevent malware prior to gaining entry to systems.

Ransomware

Ransomware is a type of malware that can prevent access to a system as well as steal information and threaten to publish it. The cyber criminal demands money in return for access or information. As ransomware rates increase it is important to keep all platforms and information secure by insisting on multi-factor authentication.
